Cal State Northridge

Register for driver education at Cal State Northridge in Northridge. Five O Driving School offers behind-the-wheel driving lessons at Cal State Northridge.

If you are under the age of 18:

  • Step 1. Take the 30-hour online class. Register now.
  • Step 2. Go to the DMV to complete the knowledge test and receive your instructional permit. You must bring a printed copy of your Certificate of Completion from the online course.
  • Step 3. Register below for behind-the-wheel lessons and schedule online. The DMV requires students under 18 to have a minimum of six hours of behind the wheel training with a licensed instructor.
  • Step 4. Practice driving with a parent/guardian for 50 hours (10 at night).
  • Step 5. After your 16th birthday, if you've completed all six hours of driving lessons, and you've had your instructional permit for six months, you can take the road test at the DMV.

If you are over the age of 18:

  • Step 1: Go to the DMV to complete the knowledge test and receive your instructional permit. 
  • Step 2: Register below for behind-the-wheel lessons and schedule online.
  • Step 3: Take the DMV driving test when ready.
